Exactly Keith! And something I didn't mention in my article is that it took me a complete year of job hunting to land that job. I worked so hard in the job, was so diligent and keen that losing the job was so unexpected for me. My thoughts after losing the job were… well if it took me a year to land this job and I've worked as hard as I can and I still get fired, then what's the point looking again. This is the real impact that job loss can cause… a sense of being defeated. I have not really looked for work as a copywriter with as much fervour ever since. It really broke a part of me. But as the article points out, it made me reassess my desire to work in the advertising industry, which was good in the end. It's not for me.
